Origins

Born in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England

Emigrated with his parents (and aunts and uncles) shortly after the 1634 death of his grandfather, Thomas Wheeler the Elder.

Life in New England

Settled initially in Concord, Massachusetts. When he was 24, his father and Uncle Ephraim Wheeler, sided with Rev. Jones when the Church of Concord split. [citation needed]. Thomas Wheeler Sr and Ephraim Wheeler left Concord for Fairfield, Connecticut. It's not clear if this son, Thomas, went with them.

We do know that his father's will [citation needed] left Thomas the son the land originally owned by his father in Concord, which he (Thomas the son) apparently settled. His uncle (another) Thomas Wheeler (likely he who became Captain in King Philip's War), was appointed overseer. [check language usage.]

Savage erroneously identifies this son as Captain Thomas Wheeler of King Philip's War, but it was his uncle.

Thomas Wheeler [father of this Thomas], first mentioned, removed to Fairfield CT in 1644; his son Thomas settled on the farm he left in Concord and married a wife Sarah before 1649. Savage erroneously identifies this latter with Capt. Thomas Wheeler. But we know that Capt. Thomas was brother of Timothy, who mentions in his will, probated 7 September 1687: "Joseph, Ephraim and Deliverance my brother Thomas his sons", [while this Thomas is separately named with his sons, "Ephraim & Joseph the two youngest sons of my nephew Sergeant Thomas Wheeler"].
