Capt. Thomas3 Tibbetts (Jeremiah2, Henry1), of Dover Neck, born in Dover Neck 24 Feb. 1659, died there in 1748, aged 89 years. He married first, in Dover Neck, 6 July 1684. Judith Dam, born there 16 Nov. 1666, died there 22 Oct. 1728, aged 61 years, daughter of Dea. John1 and Elizabeth (Pomphret) Dam; secondly, in Dover Neck, as early as 2 Jan. 1729-30. Elizabeth -----; and thirdly Sarah -----, who survived him. He was a selectman of Dover in 1696, 1699, 1715, 1716, 1717 and 1720; was town clerk of Dover for seven years, chosen 25 Apr. 1720; was in office 8 Sept. 1727. He was chosen surveyor of highways in Dover. At the breaking out of King William's War he entered the Colonial army and was promoted from time to time until he became captain. He was also in service during Queen Anne's War. He was one of the first Whole Share Proprietors of Rochester but never lived there. His house in Dover Neck was on the west side of High Street and was the first house north of the meeting house.

Tav. lic. 1694 and later, Ralph Hall a bondsm. in 1694, Joseph Hall in 1700. In 1701 the town gr. him a gore at the head of his 20 a. lot on west side of Back River, to square it. He depos. in Jan. 1738-9, -ag. ± 70-, ab. Roberts land and fam.; in Sept. 1748, ag. 88. … Will, 13 July-26 Oct. 1748, gives to w. Sarah (sole exec.) half his moveables unless she 'shall elope or unlawfully depart from me,' then only what the law allows. His lands and buildings had already been deeded to 5 sons, of whom 3 surv. with 1 dau. Ch: Ens. John, b. 29 Aug. 1685. Will, of Somersworth, 21 Jan. 1742-3-30 Mar. 1743, names w. Mary (exec. with friend Benjamin Mason), 13 ch. In 1741 he and s. John, tertius (b. 29 Mar. 1711), gave a mortgage to Walton who forecl. on the widows Mary and Joanna in 1746, both Johns being dead. Thomas, b. 4 Nov. 1687, m. 12 Aug. 1708 Sarah Tibbetts(12), s. Thomas, b. 7 Jan. 1716, all three bp. together 1725. In 1745 with w. Elizabeth he deeded land bot from John Frost to s. Thomas of Somersworth who was of Berwick when he sold in 1749, his fa. having d. bef. July 1748. Ephraim, b. 4 Mar. 1690, m. 16 Nov. 1721 Esther Tibbetts(12). In 1717 one E. and one Samuel, jr., of Dover, were prosec. by Foxwell heirs for cutting grass on their Scarb. land; in 1735 Richard Plummer, innholder, prosec. E. and w. Esther for setting fire to his ho., their bondsm. Thomas and Samuel T., gent. Living 1748. 5 or m. ch. Elizabeth, b. 8 Sept., d. 12 Oct. 1692. Samuel, b. 8 Oct. 1693. As son of Capt.
