Thomas T. Smith

Thomas T. Smith was born in 18 September 1831. He had brothers, John H. Smith, George Washington Smith, Benjamin Artemus Smith, Simpson Smith, Nathaniel Smith, and Jeremiah Smith, He married Caroline S. Bassett on 11 October 1865. They had three children who survived to adulthood: son, William A. (1856); son, Marion (1862); and daughter Zelma (1868). Records show Thomas gathered tolls in 1860 and lived in Brookfield, Indiana. By 1863, the family lived in Laurel Town and he worked as a photographer. Ten years later, in 1880, the family was living in Harmony, Indiana and farming. Thomas died in Brookfield, Franklin County, Indiana, on 3 October 1897.
