   Thomas [McGuffin] was in Chester County -Oxford Twp in 1790. The last name was spelled McGaughin. In 1810 he was in Augusta Co. VA and the name is spelled McGriffin. Nolas notes read:Purchased land in Augusta Co. in 1804 & 1813. Married Agnes(Nancy?) probably in DE or PA(Newcastle Co. or Chester Co.) Agnes(Nancy) died in Augusta in 1829. He had 6 sons and a daughter. Hugh b. 1765 d. 1820/21, Richard 1769, Thomas 1779, James 1788, Archibald 1789, Samuel 1790, Elizabeth 1792. The break in births between 1779 & 1788 suggests to me that Agnes was wife #1 and Nancy was wife # 2.
