5. 1. 1684/5. Thomas, William, Sarah ye chilldren of Thomas & Sarah Gage were baptized 15. March 1684/5. [Note: some confusion is caused because the entry is dated 5 Mar, but the baptism is given as 15 Mar. It appears one or the other dates is probably wrong. Beverly VRs uses 5 Mar. An article in NEHGR, p. 53:205, uses 16 Mar.]

First Gage in records is Thomas who bought a farm of Seth Chapin in 1723, the bulk of which he sold to Joshua Green in 1742. "When or where this first Thomas d., I have not ascertained."
- ↑ Since no record of Thomas' birth is found, it is assumed the birth in 1678 is an estimate. Presumably the order of the baptism suggests Thomas was oldest and this estimate was simply 2 years before the children born 1680. However, his marriage in 1697 would even suggest a birth a little before 1678.
