304. Thomas Ford, born 1704 in Richmond County, Virginia; died 1776 in Fairfax County, VA. He was the son of 608. John Ford and 609. Elizabeth Thornton. He married 305. Jane Milstead Abt. 1724 in Milstead home, Charles County, Maryland. 305. Jane Milstead, born in Cheshire County, Maryland. She was the daughter of 610. William Milstead.(NOTE: This may be in error, other sources indicate Jane's parents were Edward and Elizabeth Millstead. More research may be necessary). Notes for Thomas Ford: Vestryman of Pohick Episcopal Church in Truro Parish at the same time that George Washington was also a member of that church. (Source: Charles Shelby Ford) More About Thomas Ford: Occupation: attorney Religion: Member Truro Parish vestry Notes for Jane Milstead: I can only add that Jane's father was William Milstead, and that she was born in Cheshire Co, MD According to Charles Ford: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/f/o/r/Charles-W-Ford-CA/index.html "Notes for THOMAS FORD: Thomas Ford married Jane Milstead in her father's home in Charles County, Maryland. The marriage must have taken place about 1724 as their first child, John Ford, was born in 1725. The young couple moved to Fairfax County, where Thomas applied for and received three separate land grants, all on Pope's Creek in Fairfax County. He lived and died there, although his law practice extended over several adjoining counties. The Milstead family is found living in Chester County, Maryland on the Quit Rent Rolls from 1642 to 1725. The Trinity Parish Vestry Records, of Charles County, Maryland, shows the birth registry of a child, William Milstead, son of Edward and Susanna Milstead, born July 20 1685. Presumably it was this Edward Milstead who paid his Quit Rents on two plantation; one called "Good Luck If It Hits" and the other "Nonsuch". The eastern Virginia Milsteads moved west with the growing population, and most of their records are found in Amherst County, Virginia.
