Her father was of St. John near Sprendlingen, Grand Duchy of Baden, Germany; emigrated to Philadelphia PA 5 Oct 1767 on the "Sally" from Rotterdam Holland; to Reading town in Berks County, PA 1767; in MD militia in the Revolutionary war 1777; to Stony Creek in Augusta Co. VA 1778 on 138 acres north of the Fairfax line; finally moved to the Round Hill area in Augusta County by 1789/9, where he bought 145 acres from Frederick and Elizabeth Miers (relatives of his wife ?), which was the start of the Barnhart estate ; in Augusta Co VA census 1810-1830; died ae 84, owning 4 slaves.
