From David Roe of Flushing, New York and some of his descendants, "... took a degree in medicine at Columbia College, N. Y., 1817... Dr. Roe was very active in caring for cholera patients about 1832-33. He was greatly beloved by the poor of New York City. He never kept accounts and was paid only when his patients chose, or were able, to pay him... The funeral, said to have been one of the largest ever known in New York City, was held at his residence..."
