The information I am going to give to you is from The Speer Family, published 1900, by Dr. John Speer, the grandson of Margaret Cloyd Speer. On page 9 of the book Dr. Speer writes, "Grandfather died in the winter of 1811, in Morgantown, N.C. Grandmother Speer's maiden name was Margaret Cloyd; where born I do not know. She had a brother named Solomon Cloyd, who came from Virginia in early times and settled in the then Green County, Ky, on Little Pitman Creek, where he died, leaving a family of six children." Therefore, the prior post stating she was born in 1811 is unlikely. Dr. Speer writes a great deal about his grandmother Margaret Cloyd Speer because she spent a lot of time helping to raise him. Margaret Cloyd Speer is my great grandmother.

Regards,

Dan Speer
