• "One of the earliest Methodist societies in the Bledsoe Creek valley was centered around MABRYs meetinghouse, located on the present site of the Bethpage Cemetary.In 1805 the society had eleven members. Seth MABRY, William KEY, John ASPLEY and Moses DUNCAN and their wives; Mrs Bingham KEY, Mildred KEY, and Clifton ALLEN. In 1818, the Methodist congregation attending the MABRY's Mt Zion meetinghouse,...and formed Bethpage Methodist Church. Seth MABRY and his wife then deeded a church site of one and three quarters acres of land on Bledsoe Creek to the trustees of the Bethpage Church, who were identified in the conveyance as William KEY, Nathaniel PARKER,...and John CRENSHAW.BROWNING,...come from the Chipman congregation, while PARKER...were from the Mt Zion group.    Seth⁴ Mabry (Hinchia³, Hinchia², Francis¹) was born about 1752 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Seawell in 1771; lived in Bute and Franklin Counties in North Carolina; and was in Sumner County by 1811. He died in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1826. He was a Revolutionary soldier.
