Will

[IV:385] In the Name of God amen The 5th day of January 1726/7. I Sarah. Huckens widow of the Town of Harwich within the County of Barnstable In New: England being sick and weak in body but of perfict mind and Memory thanks be unto God for it, Therefore Calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body And Knowing It is appointed unto all men once to dye . Do make and Ordain this my Last will & Testament That is to Say principally And first of all . I give And Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it And my Body I Recommend to the earth to be buried In Decent Burial at the Discretion of my Executor, Nothing Doubting but at the general Resurrection — I Shall Recive the Same again by the Mighty power of God, and as Touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with All in this Life . I give Demise And Dispose of the Same in the following Manner And form

[p. 386] First That all my Just Debts And funeral be paid by my Executor out of my Estate Not hereafter given away —

Imprs I give And bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Hannah Paine my best Ridingshood And my paniel —

Item I Give to my three Daughters, Mary Bangs, Mercy Crosby, and Hannah Paine, All my waring Clothes both woolen & Linnin to be Equaly Divided among them And my pillion I give to my Daughter Mary Bangs, And my Muff I give to my Daughter Mercy Crosby —

Item I give unto the heirs of my Son . Thomas Hinckly Deceased One Shilling —

Item I give unto my Son Samuel Hinckley one Shilling —

Item I give unto my Son Shobal Hinckly one Shilling —

Item I give Nothing to my Son Job Hinckly because he had more then his Shear or portion Allready.

Item I give to my Son Josiah Hinckly one Shilling —

Item I give to my Son Elnathan Hinckly one Shilling —

Item I give to my Grandaughter Sarah paine My Silver Spoon And Spice Mortor —

Item I Give to My Granddaughter Mary Bangs A pillowcoat—

Item I Give to My grandaughter Sarah Bangs A Towel —

Item I Give All the remaining part of my Estate After my Just Debts And funeral Charges be paid And the Aboves'd Legacies be paid unto my Daughter Hannah Paine and I Do Constitute make my Son In Law Joseph Paine sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament And I Do hereby Ratify this And No Other to be my Last Will And Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & seal the day and Year above written—

Signed, Sealed, published, pronounced & Decleared by the said Sarah Huckens as her Last will and Testament In presence of Us the subscribers witness — John Crosby. David Bangs Chillingsworth Foster.

Barnstable, Ss, On the fifth day of July 1727 . Then Mr Chillingsworth Foster, And David Bangs Two of the witnesses to the within written will, Made oath before me the subscriber Judge of Probate for the County aforesaid, that they Saw the within Named Sarah Huckens sign, and seal, and heard»her Declare the within writen to be her Last will and Testament, And that she was of sound Mind And Disposeing Memory when she so Did — John Otis.
