    Elnathan Hinckley, b. 8 Sept. [1686]; d. by 29 Dec. 1698 when another Elnathan was born.

    The author suggests that the year was 1686 based on the order in which the children were listed in the record, and presumably seeing that Sep 1686 fit in the gap between Samuel and Job better than Sep 1685, especially if Elnathan died shortly after birth.
