  2.   Genealogical notes of Barnstable families by Otis, p. 40, says this Shubael is the one mentioned in NEHGR, p. 8:170, "of 'Old York' (Me.), moved to the neighborhood of Kennebec, had four wives, twenty children, and lived to the age of 92. died at Hallowell." But Otis is probably wrong and that is probably the nephew Shubael, s/o brother Samuel. Source:Collections of the Maine Historical Society. Third series, p. 3:447, says "Mr. Shubael Hinckley the first died Feb. 2, 1798, aged 91." The age at death matches the nephew b. 1708 much better than this Shubael who was b. 1690 and would have been 108 if he had lived that long. Besides the admission of Shubael and his second wife Mary to the Truro Church in 1727/28 and the subsequent baptism of children throughout the 1730's, Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 26:120, shows Truro Church Records mentioning Shubael Hinckley performing church activities on 19 Aug 1754, p. 27:13 on 11 Nov 1757, and p. 27:73 on 14 Nov 1766, which seems incompatible with this Shubael Hinckley moving to Maine.
