Sarah Kettering was born 7 June 1886 in Lisbon, Linn Co., Iowa to Solomon W. KETTERING and Mary COE. She attended Cornell College in Iowa where she earned her teaching degree. Sarah traveled to Tucson, Arizona with her mother, who was dying of T.B, and returned to Lisbon, Iowa to bury her mother. She came to Seattle, Washington in 1915 to teach (taught at Coe Elementary in Seattle for five years) where she met her husband who was a boarder in her house. Sarah married John Henry SCHNEIDER on 31 January 1920 in Seattle, King Co., Washington. In the early 1930s, Sarah and her family moved into the home they built in Suquamish, Washington and they lived there until 1962 when she and her husband, John, moved back to Seattle. Sarah died 16 January 1963 in Seattle, King Co., Washington and was buried 19 January 1963 at Holy Rood Cemetery, Seattle, King Co., Washington.
