[edit] Information on Sarah Footenamed in the 1699 deposition by Henry Conyers (see his entry) concerning her brother RICHARD FOOTE Jr. The deposition was filed later in Stafford Co VA. --"Whereas I am now going to Virginia and whereas MARTHA GAMBY, an Indian, is contented to go with me as an hired servant, I do hereby promise and agree that the said MARTHA GAMBY does at any time within four years next coming desire to returne to England , that I will not only permit her freely to return to England I will also be assisting in her return to my power and pay for her passage back to England whenever she shall desire the same. Witnessed: Nich. Nichols, SARAH BRADSHAW. from "Deeds & Abstracts of Stafford Co VA 1699-1709" by Sparacio (sounds as though this deed was written in England, but it was filed in Stafford Co VA --Apparently SARAH came to Virginia after 1703, as per court records for her father's estate in which her name appears. Mealy Whitecotton was her second husband --Estate of MEALEY WHITECOTTON 1733 Stafford Co VA: --After the payment and collection of debts, SARAH WHITECOTTON , his widow, then appeared in court to sign the final papers on June 15, 1737. The estate is valued at the time at 37.5.0. There also appear s to be mention of tobacco valued at 11 and 16 cents.
