    "E 49. Samuel5 Shepard (Samuel,4 John,3 John,2 Edward1), baptized at Hartford, Conn., 26 May 1728, died at Southington, Conn., 20 Dec. 1793, aged 65; … Eliakim Peck of Farmington sold 19 Feb. 1761 to Samuel Shepard of Hartford, 37 acres formerly laid out in right of Daniel Andrews. [Farmington Land.] Shortly thereafter he moved to Southington, then a parish in Farmington. The 1790 Census shows Samuel Shepard living at Southington with a family of three females. The will of Samuel Shepard of Southington, dated 11 Oct. 1793, proved 15 Feb. 1794, named his wife Hannah, daughter Mary Shepard, and sons Isaiah, Samuel, Nathaniel, and Lemuel. The same are named in the distribution filed 3 Sept. 1794, which calls Samuel the eldest son. [Farmington Probate.]"
