Moore, Samuel - born 7/14/1761 in Staunton [Augusta County], Virginia; entered service 1781 in Greenbrier County, Virginia, where he resided; resided there after Revolutionary War, thence to Kentucky, thence to Indiana, where granted Pension 1832 in Putnam County. F-S16983, r1759.

    State of Indiana Putnam County: SS on this 25th day of October in the year of our Lord 1832
    personally appeared in Open Court before the Honorable Amory Kinney President Judge of the
    Seventh Judicial Circuit of the State of Indiana in which is included the County of Putnam
    aforesaid, and the Honorable David Duese and William Elrod Associate Judges for the County of Putnam aforesaid, The Circuit Court for Putnam County now sitting Samuel Moore, a resident of Putnam County aforesaid aged seventy-one years who first being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of
    Congress passed June 7th, 1832.
    That he entered the service of the United States under the following named Officers and
    served as herein stated. That his Major's name was Andrew Hamilton. His Captain's name was
    James Armstrong, his Lieutenant's name was William Gillerland, his Ensign's name was
    Sampson Archer. That he entered the service about the 1st day of February in the year 1781, and left the same in the month of September 1781 having been at that time honorably discharged by a discharge in writing. That he resided in Greenbrier County in the State of Virginia when he entered the service and that he was drafted into the service he thinks for the term of twelve months but he was discharged as before stated before the time. That he was marched to a place called Fort Chissel [Fort Chiswell] in Montgomery County Virginia thence to Thomson's Mills on the waters of Holston River, and from thence he was marched down Powell's Valley by
    Cumberland Gap to Colonel Benjamin Logan's Fort, in the district of Kentucky, That the
    Company to which he belonged with two other Companies commanded by Captain George
    Davison [George Davidson] and Captain John Woods, were engaged in guarding ammunition to
    their place of designation, for the purpose (as he then understood) of supplying General Clarke [George Rogers Clark] for an expedition against Detroit, that he never was attached to any Continental Corps, And that he has no documentary evidence. And that he knows of no person whose testimony he can procure who can testify to his service. He says I was born in Staunton Augusta County Virginia on the 14th day of July 1761. And that he has no record of his age. He says he received a regular discharge, but lost it soon afterwards. He says I resided for some years after the war was over in Greenbrier County Virginia, from that place I removed to the State of Kentucky and from thence to the State of Indiana aforesaid. And now reside in Putnam County aforesaid in said State of Indiana. That he hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the Agency of any State.

    [Veteran was pensioned at the rate of $23.33 per annum commencing March 4th, 1831, for
