Samuel E HIESTAND

was born on 7 Apr 1866 at Indiana.  In 1884 Samuel E Hiestand married Sarah F. Dryden married five years in 1900.  He died before 1930 at Oregon more information: wife is remarried in that census.

    He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Benton twp., Knox Co., Missouri, in the household of his parents Methuselah Hiestand and Nancy Hiestand, he was age 4.  He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Benton twp., Knox Co., Missouri in the household of his brother John M Hiestand, he was age 14.  

In 1900 Samuel's occupation was as a farmer at Medicine Creek, Furnas Co., Nebraska.

    Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Medicine Creek, Furnas Co., Nebraska, enumerated 18 Jun 1900, renting their farm. No children after five years of marriage.  

    Samuel E Hiestand lived at Decker, Big Horn Co., Montana.  

    Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Prairie twp., Phelps Co., Nebraska, enumerated 28 Apr 1910, renting their farm. They now have two children, Stanley (born in Nebraska) and Dallas (born in Montana). So they obviously have spent some time living in Montana prior to 1910. 

In 1920 Samuel's occupation was as a laborer at a cannery at Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon.

    Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon, at 1385 Williamete Street, enumerated 7 Jan 1920, renting their home, and both boys are listed with them. Also living there is Sarah's brother, Jonathan Dryden, age 30.

    Sarah F. DRYDEN was born in May 1874 at Illinois father born in Tennessee; mother in Indiana.  Before 1930 at Oregon Sarah F. Dryden's second marriage was to Glen Parmenter.  As of 1900, she also went by the nickname of Sadie.  

In 1930 Sarah's occupation was as a packer at a green house at Armitage, Lane Co., Oregon.

    Sarah F. Parmenter and Glen Parmenter appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Armitage, Lane Co., Oregon, enumerated 2 May 1930, own their farm. Sadie's son, Stanley is living with them. Also living there are two lodgers, Garland and Belle Grimshaw.

    The two known children of Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Dryden were as follows:

• 2 i. Stanley D HIESTAND was born on 15 Apr 1902 at Nebraska.

    He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Prairie twp., Phelps Co., Nebraska in the household of his parents Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand, he was age 8.  He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon in the household of his parents Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand, he was age 17.  

In 1930 Stanley's occupation was as a laborer at a lumber mill at Armitage, Lane Co., Oregon. Stanley D Hiestand appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Armitage, Lane Co., Oregon in the household of his step-father Glen Parmenter and his mother Sarah F. Parmenter, he was age 28 and single.

He died Jan 1973 at Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon, at age 70.

• 3 ii. Dallas D HIESTAND was born on 9 Nov 1904 at Billings, Yellowstone Co., Montana. On 4 Apr 1936 at Los Angeles Co., California, at the age of 31 Dallas D Hiestand married Leona Mary Guthrie age 26, daughter of John Guthrie and Pearl Ola Thompson. He died on 12 Aug 1968 at Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., California, at age 63.

    He appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Prairie twp., Phelps Co., Nebraska in the household of his parents Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand, he was age 5.  He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon in the household of his parents Samuel E Hiestand and Sarah F. Hiestand, he was age 15.  His Social Security Number was 563-12-5130 issued before 1951 at California.

    Leona Mary GUTHRIE was born on 26 May 1909 at Manitou, Tillman Co., Oklahoma.  She died on 14 Feb 1987 at Las Vegas, Clark Co., Nevada, at age 77.
 

Leona Mary Guthrie was buried on 20 Feb 1987 at Long Beach, Los Angeles Co., California.
