Sept .28, 1781, Captain Charles Smith and Lieut. Josiah Smith were appointed to appraise the confiscated estate of Joseph Galpin, an absentee of Greenwich; also Charles Webb of Stamford and Samuel Peck of Greenwich were appointed commissioners to examine the claims of creditors of the following estates, viz: William Peck, Jehiel Partelo, Stephen Lyon, Darling Whelpley, Samuel Austin, Joseph Galpin, John Perot, Jonathan Lockwood, 4th, Daniel Merritt, Shubael Brush, Daniel Carpenter, Matthew Partelo, George and Ruth Carpenter, all of Greenwich, which have been declared forfeited on account of their going over to the enemy, page 185.
