Dorset land records book 3 p 20: "Know all men by ----that I Samuel Crain of Dorset in the county of Benington in the state of Vermont do for and in consideration of $583 paid to me in hand, by Johh Austin of Manchester in the county afore..the receipt where of I do acknowledge and by this forwith do give grant bargain sole attain convey and confirm unto him the said John and his heirs and assigns the following tract of land in Dorset as for containiing 67 acres and one half grounded as follows. These beginning at no. 35 in the 8th division then west 132 rods and one half to a maple sapling then north 62 rods and ---to burch sapling then east 132 rods to last line of number 39 in the east dividion and south 60 rods and one half to the bounds begin at the other piece beginning aat the south west corner of number 47 in the third division then west 140 rods to a maple sapling then south 23 rods to a stake and stone then east 140 rods to.....then north 23 rods to the bound begin at two acres and one half included in the deed is .....as being herefore deeded to Eli Deming as ....on record will appear to have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises to him the said John and his heirs and assigns unto his and their own life benefit and behoof forever and the said Samuel to bind myself and my heirs and assigns to warrent and defend the above grants and premises to him the said John his heirs and assigns against all leins or demands of any preface or perform what survivor claiming the same under the authority of the state of New Hamphire in witness of where of I have here unto set my hand in seal in -----of November 27 day 1798. Polly Shumway, John Chyumway and Samuel Crain. Bennington County 27th day ofNovember, 1798. ---formally appeared Samuel Crain signed and sealed and acknowledged the same to be his free and ----before me.

Dorset Land records Book 9 page 531: Know all men by these present that i joHN Austin of Dorset in the county of Bennington in the State of Vermont for the consideration of $1000 received to my full satisfaction of John Austin JR. of Hambugh in the country of Erie and state of New York do give grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said John Jr. his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Dorset---and described as follows to wit beginning at basswood sapling on the west line no. 39 in the third division vents S. 85 and a half rods to a stake and stones then west 140 rods to stake stones then north 85 and half rods to a beech sapling and east 140 rods to the first mentioned bounds...contain about 75 acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtances inanus(sic) thereof unto him the said John Austin Jr. his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof and also I the said John Austin for myself my heirs, executers and administrators currant with the said John Austin Jr. his heirs and assigns that at and until the unsealing of thesse presents I am -----of the premisises as a good---and have gave right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as above with in and that the same is free of all incumberances whatsoever and forever more. I the said John by those presents bind myself and heirs to warrent and defend the above granted and bargained premises to the said John Jr. his heirs and assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever in witness thereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of April AD 1833 signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Abel Morse, Laura D. Morse John Austin, April 22,1833 personally appeared John Austin signer and sealer in the above written instrument and acknowledged the same to be his free act and signed before me Able Morse Justice of the Peace April 29th, 1833 and sworn the same..attest Abel Morse Town Clerk Revolutionary War pension application declaratrions 17 Aug 1832, 11 June 1833 and 26 June 1835 states he served From Jan 1776 3 months as a Private in Capt.
