Samuel Adams was one of the Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia __________________________ [edit] Information on Samuel AdamsSamuel Adams was the son of William Adams, Sr. and Mary Walker born 27 Mar 1752 in Augusta Co unty, VA. He married (1st) Anne Curry in 1776 in Mercer County, KY. (2nd) Jane (Jenny) McCoun 21 Apr 1800 in Mercer County, KY. Samuel Adams was granted a tract of land containing 1,000 acres in 1786, as an assignee of Isaac Hite. This tract was in Lincoln County KY., adjoining William McAfee's presumption line. His grant was signed by the then Govenor of KY., Patrick Henry. Samuel had married Anne Curry in 1776 and their third child was born in KY. Anne Curry Adams died during the birth of her sixth child. On April 21, 1800, Samuel married Jane McCoun Woods, his first cousin. In 1816 he sold out in KY. and moved his family north to IN. territory, settling in what is now Parke County. Samuel Adams died August 25, 1828 and he and his second wife are buried within 1 1 /2 miles of their original homestead. Current research reveals little evidence of recorded transactions between Samuel and his younger brother, David.
