The Robert Lawson Jr., son of Robert Lawson Sr., married Mary McCampbell in Rockbridge Co., VA on 10 April 1792.
The members of the Robert Lawson Sr., they all married in Rockbridge, family who came with him from Ireland are Robert Lawson Jr. who married Mary McCampbell, David Lawson, oldest son, married Hannah Dale, James Lawson married Isabella Dale, and Isabella Lawson married Samuel Dale. Marriage bonds show that the Dale spouses were siblings.
Stories from the McCampbell family state Samuel McCampbell with his grown children and their spouses, and other Rockbridge families, moved to Shelby Co., KY, this including Robert and Mary [McCampbell] Lawson Jr. Samuel is recorded as buying land
about 1799 in Shelby.
If this move to Shelby included Robert Lawson Jr. and his wife Mary McCampbell, they did not stay but returned to Rockbridge either when Robert Sr. became ill or died. Robert Jr. still had an interest in the land of his father.
Robert Jr. and Mary returned to Rockbridge Co., VA before 14 June 1805, because in the Rockbridge Deed Book E page 392, Robert Lawson is made power of attorney, per will of Samuel McCampbell of Shelby Co., KY, to transfer to Margaret Simon 100 acres of land owned by Samuel McCampbell in Rockbridge. It does not specify Robert Jr. or Sr. in the will but we believe that Sr. had died and Jr. [now Sr. for tax purposes] is in Rockbridge Co., VA.
Robert Lawson and his wife Mary McCampbell, divide the land of his father with his brother James and then sells part his portion is to Mary's brother or Uncle, Robert McCampbell. In 05 Oct 1813 Robert and wife Mary sell 4 acres of land to Andrew Walkup. After this sale we no longer see Robert and Mary in Rockbridge. They may have returned to Shelby Co., KY.
The children we have listed for Robert and Mary [McCampbell] Lawson are Sarah, Robert, Isabella, and John. We have never seen him or his father with a son Andrew.
