Obituary Robert J. Hosler died June 27, 1994 Traverse City -- Robert J. Hosler, 68, died Monday at his home. He retired after 40 years of service as foreman with the Traverse City Utility Department. Mr. Hosler became a Traverse City resident in 1947, following discharge from military service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Army after that war. He had been a member of the VFW and the American Military League. The son of Leonard and Theola (Pike) Hosler, he was born July 29, 1925, in Grand Rapids. On June 4, 1948, in Traverse City, he married Phyllis Pike, who died Nov. 12, 1988. He also was predeceased by his parents; and two sons, David and James. Survivors include three sons, Robert J. (Mary Jo) Hosler Jr. of Romeo, Mitchell A. (Vivian) Hosler of Traverse City and Michael L. (Tina) Hosler serving in the U.S. Air Force in North Dakota; two brothers, Lee and Charles Hosler; two sisters Carol Hopkins and Wanda Perkins; and nine grandchildren. Services for Mr. Hosler will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Reynolds-Yonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Dr. Gary Hogue will officiate with burial in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 this evening. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Source: Robert J.
