Note: Robert married Nancy Ewen (Ewing?) in VA. The old records disagree on t he spelling of her name. In one place it is Euin, in another, Euen.

Robert and Nancy lived on his father's old homestead on Moffit's Branch , Augusta Co., VA. In 1888 it was owned by David Hogshead.

Robert served in Capt. Trimble's company in the Revolution. (see "Virgi nians in the Revolution," at p. 384) His brothers, and their father, al so served. He was the third great granduncle of the compiler of this j ournal.

The old records call him a "good man." His estate was appraised June 28 , 1786.
