(73) Admn. of estate of Robert Hogshead granted to James Hogshead and John Ewing. Ann, the widow, appeared and refused to administer Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia Volume I AUGUSTA COUNTY COURT RECORDS. ORDER BOOK No. XXIV JANUARY 16, 1798 (247) Elizabeth, William and James Hogshead chose Nancy Hogshead guardian. They are the orphans of Robert Hogshead.

In one place it is Euin, in another, Euen. children (all born in Augusta Co., VA): Jane (June?), James, Elizabeth a nd William Ewen Hogshead Robert and Nancy lived on his father's old homestead on Moffit's Branch , Augusta Co., VA. In 1888 it was owned by David Hogshead. Robert served in Capt. Trimble's company in the Revolution. (see "Virgi nians in the Revolution," at p. 384) His brothers, and their father, al so served. He was the third great granduncle of the compiler of this j ournal. The old records call him a "good man."
