Notes for Robert Campbell:
Robert Campbell was born in 1755. He was one of the most active leaders of the Whig party in Western Virginia, during the Revolution of 1776, and was distinguished for his enterprise and great courage. He enlisted in the Colonial Army when only nineteen years of age, to fight the Indians; was wounded at the battle of Point Pleasant, in 1774; served with bravery in the Continental Army, and was at the battle of Kings Mountain and other engagements while the war continued. He kept a journal of his life while in the army.
