Pedigree

The following pedigree, apparently taken from the Ancestral File (which gives his parents as John and Julian (Corbet) Sandford), is suspect. The Visitation of Shropshire shows his parents to be George and Elizabeth (Corbet) Sandford[2] (whose marriage is listed in both the Sandford[2] and Corbet[3] family trees). While the Visitation of Shropshire is known to be unreliable, it quotes a 1471 ruling requiring Richard Sandford to pay a reasonable dowry to Hugh Peshall and Juliana his wife, who had been the wife of John Sandford[2]. It seems likely that the origin of John and Juliana Sandford is this couple, who appear to have been contemporaries of Richard.
