Richard Price married probable cousin Lucy Price in Shenandoah County, Virginia April 10, 1783. A History of Shenandoah County, Virginia by John W. Wayland and Shenandoah County Virginia Marriage Record. Lucy is named Lucy Price in this record. In all cases the maiden name of the bride is recorded which refutes other records naming his wife as Lucy Estill. Statement of Richard Price supporting Revolutionary War Pension Application of Anjer Price. Richard, age 83, was then a resident of Hamilton County, Tennessee 4 May 1842. "he was personally acquainted with Anjer Price that he was born in Culpeper County in the State of Virginia on the 27th day of February 1756, that he was married in Shenandoah County Virginia on the 10th day of April 1783 to Jane Price who was born in Granville County North Carolina on the 3rd day of October 1765...the reason why he recollects the date of the said Anjer Price and Jane Price's in her marriage is that he himself was married on the same day."

Shortly after their marriage, Richard and Lucy Price moved to Washington County, Virginia where on 9 December 1785, Richard Price was one of the petitioners to form a new County. Also signing this petition was Daniel Price believed to be a brother. The Richard Price family resided in what became Russell County until about 1809. Many interactions between Richard, Daniel, Francis and Anjer Price are found in Russell County Deed Books.

The Revolutionary War Pension application of Daniel Price S14227 contains this statement from Richard Price: Warren County Tennessee This day personally appeared Richard Price Senior before us Elisha N. Price & George Rains two acting Justices of the peace for said County and made oath in due form that he was personally acquainted with Daniel Price in the 96th District State of South Carolina in the time of the revolutionary War and was knowing to the time when he enlisted as a soldier under the command of General Marion and he deposed that to the best of his recollection that he served as such about the space of Eleven months in Capt. Lipham's Company and that he was discharged on account of sickness and that he had his discharge in possession for some time and returned it to said Daniel Price's Mother. Sworn to and subscribed before us this 13th day of August 1836 S/ George Rains, JP S/Elisha N. Price, JP S/ Richard Price

Mrs. Lucie Price of Austin Texas submitted the following information to the periodical The East Kentuckian in 1973. "Anjer married Jane Price, who was his cousin and apparently a sister of Richard. I believe Richard and Jane had a brother Daniel and perhaps a brother Francis. Richard and Jane made affidavits for Daniel Price when he applied of a Rev. War Pension from Russell Co., Va. They were then living in Warren County, Tenn. In 1850, Richard, age 91, (Lucy evidently had died) was living with son William James Price in Jackson Co., Alabama. In Jane's application for a pension, after Anger died, Richard gives her birthdate and that she was born in Granville Co., NC. There was another Price, who we think was a brother to Anger and Lucy, as he made an affidavit that he knew when Anger enlisted. All the named persons moved to Warren Co., Tenn except Daniel, who died in Russell Co., ca. 1854."

YDNA results at familytreedna gives the haplogroup for Richard Price direct male descendants as I-M253. Autosomal DNA results also show matches between descendants of the above individuals and descendants of John Price Sr. of Shenandoah County. Thus, a relationship as descendants of a common ancestor is indicated. However, to date, no original records have been found to confirm the identity of that person/couple. Many false statements can be found in online family trees but original records and dna can disprove many of the supposed connections. There are those who want to link Richard Price to a John Sawyer Price. I believe this individual to be an urban legend/wishful thinking as no evidence of a father son relationship has been found.
