Will of Richard Gatewood
- Page 411-14: Will of Richard Gatewood of the Parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex, dated 17 July 1730.
- To my daughter Cleare Gatewood my gold ring.
- To my daughter Ann Gatewood my large looking glass.
- To my three eldest children Ann Gatewood, Cleara Gatewood and Richard Gatewood, my three silver spoons.
- To my son Richard Gatewood my pistolls and holsters, sord and belt.
- To my son Richard Gatewood a peace of land joining upon Mr. Willm Brooke and the land that I have Mr. Wm. Brooke bond to acnolidge to me when demanded.
- To my beloved wife Pashant Gatewood five Negroes Jack, Linius, Will, Betty, Cate during her natural life and after her decease to return to her four children Eliza Gatewood, Pasant Gatewood, Sarah Gatewood and one that's unborn.

- To my daughter Clera Gatewood a feather bed and a rug, a blanket and sheet, and five head of catell, two cows, one stare of seven year ould and two two year oulds, and five head of hogs, two sows and three barrows.
- To my four yungest children Eliza Gatewood, Pasant Gatewood, and Sarah Gatewood and the child that's unborn, all the rest of my beds and bedden.
- All my cattell and hoggs not before given, to be equally divided between my wife and her four children.
- To my beloved wife the land I now live upon that goes to the roads that lead to the ould mill bridge during her naturall life and then to return to the next air, after the crop is finished that is now growing upon it.
- Unto my beloved wife 5 pounds current money and the rest of my money to be equally divided amonkst all my children.
- One ould silver tankard and a silver spoon and a pair silver buckets to my beloved wife Pasant Gatewood.
- All the rest of my estate equally divided amonxt my wife and seven children.
- David Scott as soon as my will is proved and my estate aprased to devid my estate.
- To my beloved wife a peas of see sucker and a pair of shoes.
