Confer, 88, of 6817 Woodside Place, a former Niagara falls police officer, died Wednesday (Nov 30, 1977( in Mount St Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Pennsylvania, he was a resident of Western New York for 60 years. He was employed as a patrolman for the City of Niagara Falls for 25 years. Confer was an elder of the Niagara United Presbyterian Church. He was the husband of the late Fannie Confer. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Ernest (Anne) Russell of the Town of Niagara, and Mrs John (Beulah) Sopczuk of North Tonawanda; three sisters, Mrs Myrtle Schnieder of Auburnm Pa., Mrs Gertrude Harter of Jacksonville, Pa., and Mrs Relda White of Beach Creek Pa.; three brothers, Russell D. Confer of Milesburg, Pa., Serge C. Confer of Julian, Pa., and Claude E. Confer of Howard, Pa., and four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.... Funeral services will be conducted at the Niagara United Presbyterian Church, Lockport and Military roads, Saturday at 11am. The Rev William J. Devine will officiate. Interment will be private.
