Rockford Register Star 12/11/1956 Ray Runciman Services for Ray Richard Runciman, 78, 2211 Oxford st., who died at 3:30 a.m. Monday in his home, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Julian-Poorman funeral home, 403 N. 5th st. The Rev. J. Rodman Williams, pastor of First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Burial will be in Willwood Burial park. There will be no visitation. Mr. Runciman was born Jan. 16, 1878, in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Runciman and came to Rockford 40 years ago from Chicago. He married the former Jennie Castner June 16, 1924. He was employed for 38 years by the Rockford Wholesale Grocery company and retired in 1942. During the Spanish-American war, he served in the infantry. Surviving are his widow and a cousin, John Runciman, Cobourg, Ontario.

    Ray Richard Runciman, 78, 2211 Oxford st., a Rockford resident 40 years, died at 3:30 a.m. today in his home after a lengthy illness.
    He was born Jan. 16, 1878, in Cobourg, Ont. Can., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Runciman. He came to Rockford from Chicago. He married the former Jennie Castner June 16, 1924 in Rockford. For 38 years he was employed by the Rockford Wholesale Grocery company and retired in 1942. During the Spanish-American war, he served in the infantry.
    Besides his widow Mr Runciman is survived by a cousin, John Runciman, Cobourg, Ont.
    Services will be held at 3pm Wednesday in the Julian-Poorman funeral home, 304 N. 5th st., with the Rev. J. Rodman Williams, pastor of the First Presbyterian church; officiating. Burial will be in Willwood Burial park. There will be no visitation."
