Personal History

Polly Levistone/Leveston/Levingston,[6] daughter of Asa Leveston and Olive[1][2] (Peacock), was born 16 November 1790, in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.[1][2]

Marriage and Family

(see the Family page for references)

Sherebiah's second wife Polly, whose maiden name is unknown, may have been the sister of his first wife Olive. (No marriage record has been found.) The births of their children appear in the town records of Tewksbury.

In probate after the death of her husband in 1840,[7] Polly was granted an allowance of $300 from his personal estate, and on 17 November 1840, an inventory of her dower from the real estate was taken and valued at $686. She remained guardian of her three minor children, and their portion of the estate was sold at public auction on 12 July 1841.

Death and Probate

Polly Scarlett died intestate on 21 or 23 September 1856,[3][4] in Tewksbury, of typhoid fever,[3] and was buried in Tewksbury Cemetery.[3][4]

On 28 October 1856,[5] in the probate court of Middlesex Co., Caleb Livingston of Tewksbury was appointed administrator of the estate of Polly Scarlett, widow, and he, along with Benjamin F. Spaulding and Aaron Frost Jr., both of Tewksbury, signed a bond. An inventory of the estate was taken on 22 October 1856, with the personal estate valued at $456.17. The balance of the estate was divided into five shares of $63.37 each, with one share to each of her four surviving children, Randolph, Sherebiah, Mary (wife of J.G. Gray), and Susan, and one share to the children of her deceased son Asa L. Scarlett.
