NOTE: I could find no pension application for Samuel Cadall, but a pension application for Samuel Caddall was abstracted from court records transcribed by J. T. McAllister and published as “Virginia Soldiers in the Revolution,” which is included in Virginia Military Records (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1983):
SAMUEL CADDALL, (Montgomery, Aug. 7, 1832). Born 1759. Volunteed in 1780 in Rockbridge in Second Virginia, Continental Line, Col. Howe commanding. His captains were Paxton, Wallace, Lapsley, Cowherd and Evans. Discharged at Salisbury, N. C., in 1782. Howe leaving the service from ill health, was followed by [Col.
