Nicholas Sheldon - son of John and Joan (Vincent) Sheldon. Nicholas was born in Pawtuxet, RI, and lived in Providence. K.M. Sheldon shows him born in 1670.
On 18 May 1685, with his brother John, he received a grant of land amounting to sixty acres from his father. In 1687 he was taxed 2d. He married Abigail Tillinghast probably around 1691.
He remaind a lifelong resident of Providence, He was a successful farmer and took no part in community affairs. In 1741 he deeded "to son Jeremiah, for £1000, all my homestead lands where I dwell, with house, etc."
He died at Providence 23 November 1747. His will dated 16 January 1744 was proved there 11 January 1747/8.
Ex. Son Jeremiah. To daughter Mary, a riding horse, best fether bed, etc. To each grandchild, 20s. All the rest of estate to be divided into eight parts, first choice being for daughter Mary; a share to son Nicholas; one to son Joseph; daughter Abigail Fenner, wife of Richard; daughter Lydia Arnold, wife of Elisha; daughter Hannah Arnold, wife of Edward; children of son Pardon, deceased (viz: Job, John, Pardon and Mary), and to son Jeremiah the other eighth.

Nicholas Sheldon of Providence, yeoman. Will dated 16 Jan 1744, proved 11 Jan 1747, he died 23 Nov last, pps. 211-211-2. Sons: Nicholas, Joseph, Pardon deceased, and Jeremiah. Daughters: Mercy or Mary Sheldon, Abigail Fenner wife of Richard Fenner Esq., Lydia Arnold wife of Elisha Arnold and Hannah Arnold wife of Edward Arnold. Children of my son Pardon deceased: Job Sheldon, Pardon Sheldon and Mary Sheldon. Witnesses: Oliver Carpenter, Elias King and George Brown.
