Usage Tips

NEHGS has indexed all the records for searching on its website (membership required). Their description:

"In 1891, James N. Arnold began publishing a series of vital records books for the towns of Rhode Island. The series would go on to include church records and newspaper records, ultimately filling twenty-one volumes with information."

They also have an article on using Arnold's records (membership not required), and the volumes are available for viewing at the NEHGS Research Library, call number REF F78/A75.

The Family History Center has several related resources. Volumes 9-21 (digitized by BYU) are available through the link above. You can also order the on microfilm at your local FHC, or the Salt Lake City library and some other regional centers have it in hard copy.

Arnold's work is not in the IGI, but some of the underlying records used by him are.
