1883 History of Bremer County, page 1127: NELSON LONG, son of Philip and Mary (Flood) Long was born September 19th, 1828, in Hampshire county, Virginia. His education was obtained in his native county, where he lived until 1850, when he came to Iowa, and located in Washington county, where he remained until the fall of 1854. In February of the following year, he entered 120 acres of land on section 18, Leroy township, where he now lives, but at the present date, owns 92 1/2 acres. Mr. Long was married to Mrs. Anna Husband, in 1871, and they have one child- Herbert.
