Nellie E. Shaw, daughter of Silas Greenman and Hannah E. Hull Burdick, was born March 1, 1868 at Lima, Wis. She graduated from Milton College in 1892. She and Mr. Shaw were married in Milton Aug. 14, 1894. They were the parents of four daughters, three of whom survive: Mrs. H. O. (Hannah) Burdick, Alfred, N. Y., Mrs. George (Helen) Thorngate of Monterey, Calif., and Mrs. James I. (Catherine) Stillman of Houston, Texas; also 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. The youngest daughter, Miss Miriam Shaw, died in 1958.
The Rev. Mr. Shaw was a brother of the late Dr. Edwin Ben Shaw of Milton. Nephews and nieces in this area are Leland C. Shaw, Miss Stephana Shaw, Elston E. Shaw, and Mrs. Elton Bingham. Mrs. J. Paul Green is a niece of Mrs. Shaw. Services for both were held in the First Seventh Day Baptist church, Alfred, N. Y., with burial in Alfred Rural Cemetery.
