Nathanial Evans, b. 1756 Botetourt County, VA., d. 1826, White County, TN., m. Mary Reynolds.
Nathanial was a soldier in Revolutionary War. He commanded Evans Battalion and was one of the heroic figures who turned the tide at Kings Mountain. According to family legend, in 1776 he rescued John Sevier from a trial of high treason, following the demise of the State of Franklin, of which he was Governor. (Sevier later became the first Governor of Tennessee.)
While I can document my direct line from Nathanial through his son Col. Severe Evans (named after Nathanial's close friend John Sevier),
