Notes

Nathaniel "Nathan" Franklin of Botetourt County, Virginia appears to have likely been married twice. The identity of his first wife is unknown (as yet, but some researchers claim her name was "Sarah"), but he appears to have married Elizabeth Litton, widow of William Litton, on 14 March 1804 in Botetourt County, Virginia. Elizabeth, likely born abt. 1766 would have fit age-wise in both the 1810 & 1820 Census records in Botetourt County, but additional research is necessary to prove.

Marriage records in Botetourt County prove that he was the father of Mary (who married John Darr in 1800), Elizabeth (who married William Poage in 1806) and Sarah Franklin (who married Henry Able in 1816). Additional research and records are needed to establish his other likely children.

It is not known if Nathan Franklin died prior to the 1830 Census or if he and his family re-located to another area. Additional research is needed on his family.
