In 1761 Nathan Bond was deeded one hundred acres on Shepherd's Creek in Albemarle County by his father and he sold it the same year. Amherst County was formed in 1761 and he bought three hundred acres on Stone House Creek in Amherst County in 1763 and another three hundred acres in 1778. He lived on the land and it was recorded in his name in Amherst County land records in 1782. The land was deeded equally to his four children on January 1, 1782. They owned it in the tax records of 1784 and 1789. After 1787 he moved with his family to Elbert County, Georgia. There are no records indicating he ever owned land there. He probably lived with his son. The family settled on land north of present day Elberton and on the Beaverdam and Coldwater Creeks. At the time of his death in 1815 he was in bad health. Instead of signing his will he marked it with an N.
