  • 1733 June 20 received land grant of 250 acres Goochland Co. VA little Byrd Creek.
  • 1735 11, Feb - Charles Bond of Goochland Co. and Mary his wife, to William Johnson of Middlesex Co. , 250 acres on little Bird Creek. Bounded by Robert Horsley. Wit.: James George, Joseph Pace, Thomas Brackett. Signed Charles and Mary Bond. Recorded 20th April 1736.
  • 1741 15th Sep. - Deed of John Maddox of Goochland Co. VA, to Charles Bond of same, planter, 200 acres on South side of James River on fork of Deep Creek, as patent to said Maddox, next to John Tabr, John Hopson, William Medlock, Thomas Burch, and Stephen Huges. Wit. Tarlton Woodson Jr., John Allen, George Payne Jr., recorded 15 th Sept. 1741. Elizabeth, wife of Maddox, relinquished her dower rights.

  • Will of Charles Bond dated March 16, 1774 and probated May, 1775 in Surry Co., NC, Will Book page 44 leaves the estate to wife, Marry then sons Jesse and John. It names two Allen Woodrow Bond and Robert Nicholas Bond (sons of William Bond) and mentions William Bond (called Billy)
  • Charles Bond is found first in the records of Goochland County, Virginia where he received some land grants and made several purchases as well as sold some land.
  • At the first court in Albemarle County in 1744 he was named Ordinary of Briery Creek, a branch of the lower Hardware River. An ordinary was a person who sold food, drink and lodging for one price. In 1745 he sold stray horses at the Albemarle Court House and in 1747 he was a member of a jury. In 1761 he deeded one hundred acres of land to his son, Nathan Bond, at the "mouth of Shepherd's Creek on north side of Hardware River."
  • In 1771 the family moved to Surry Co., N.C.
  • By 1772 he was in Surry County, North Carolina. He was living there when he wrote his will and when he died.

Last will and testament of Charles Bond.
In the Name of God amen. I Charles Bond of the County of Surry and province of North Carolina am of perfect health of body and of perfect Mind and Memory Calling unto Mind the Mortality of My body and knowing it is appointed for All men One to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty god my body to the Earth to be buried at the descretion of my Executors wherewith it hath been please God to bless me in this life with a small Estate which I woud despose of in the following Manner.
First I give and bequeth unto my beloved wife Mary Bond One feather bed and furniture and all the sheep & One Cow and her Increase to her for ever and all the rest of My Estate. I lend to my wife as long as she lives and after my wife's Death all that I have I give to my son John Bond to him And his heirs forever Except Twenty pounds proclamation Money & that I give to my son Jesse Bond when My son John Bond Comes of Age and that to be paid in stock to be valued by the Executors and the Improvement that I live on when the land office is Open if there should be a chance of Obtaining a right that the money is to be rais'd Out of John Bond's Estate to pay the rights of the land and then the land to be equally Divided Between my two sons Jesse Bond and John Bond. Jesse to have the upper part and John to have the loer part to them and their heirs forever.
I give and bequeth to my two grandsons Allen Wooderd Bond and Robert. Nicholas Bond Two hundred acres of land lying on hardway river In Albemarle County Virginia. The land including the plantation whereon my son Billy Bond formerly lived to them and their heirs forever.
I also appoint my beloved wife Mary Bond & Jesse Walton as my Executors

Jesse Walton and William Johnson two of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and Testament of Charles Bond made Oath that they saw the said Charles Bond Sign publish and declare the same to be his last will and Testament that he was on sound and disposing mind and memory and at the same time they saw Benjamin Johnson Sign the same as witness and on motion ordered to be recorded.
