Mintie Gammon married Charles S. Ashton in 1898. No other details were found on the citation. In the 1900 census Mintie & Charles are living in Anderson County, Tennessee, with their son, Harry M. H. Ashton, b. Aug 1899. Also is the household is Mintie's mother, Mary Arnold, b. Dec 1829 in Tennessee, & listed as a widow. I found Mintie's record of death which noted that her father's name was G. W. Arnold & her mother's name was Mary Presnell. I can find no record of marriage of Mintie to a "Gammon" or anyone other than Charles Ashton, and I think it likely that "Gammon" is not a correct spelling of the surname of Mintie's first husband and also that Mintie is probably a nickname. rc 17 Feb 2012
