About Mattie Lee Croxton Hendricks

Mattie Lee Croxton Hendricks was a real Christian lady she was a praying woman that seen God answer so many of her prayer, she lived what she believed, if you were at her house when it came time for Church you had three things that you could choose, 1. Go to Church with her which was what she preferred, 2. Stay till she got back, 3. Go home...She was going to go to Church...She was faithful till the very end...she believe the song that was sung at her funeral "It is the last mile that counts"  She believed the way to be part of the  New Testament Church was found in Acts 2:38 and she obey it....she repented and was baptized in Jesus Name and received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues in 1949 at the Madison Ave Holiness Church, on Madison Avenue,  Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky  and served the Lord with all her heart till she died... She lived in Muhlenburg County  and Hopkins County, Kentucky all her life, She live the last 40 years of her life around the Anton Area....She passed away 12 Dec 1980   she was buried at Brier Creek Cemetery.  She lived a month and 8 days after she was told she had Cancer, she was 5 ft. 6 in. and weigh 190 lb.   
  Her funeral was at the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church with Rev. James O Russell(her pastor for many years) who officiated his topic was "All the money of this world could not by one square inch of her new home". Le Roy Nevitte sang "It's Not The First Mile But The Last Mile That Counts", Her prayers were that all her household would be saved and that one of her sons would Preach the Gospel, her youngest son now pastors the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church is one of the largest United Pentecostal Churches in the state of Kentucky it is the church she was a faithful member of till her death, 5 of her sons have be baptized in that church and 5 of her daughters. She was praising her God when she left this world. She was a great Christian lady.. God does hear a Mother's prayer.--Dlbradley1 10:11, 19 August 2008 (EDT)

  Mrs Mattie Lee Croxton Hendricks, 75, of Route 3, Madisonville, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Medical Center, Evansville, Ind.
  She was born in Hopkins County, June 9, 1905, the daughter of the late Nick Croxton and Emmer Gipson.She was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.
  She is survived by her husband, Jesse Herman Hendricks, who she was married to for 58 years; five daughters, Mrs Martha Henderson, Madisonville, Mrs Nelva Jean Bradley, Madisonville, Mrs Freda Agnes Alexander, Morton  Gap, Mrs Emma Bowles, Route 3, Madisonville, and Mrs Willodean Watson, Providence; seven sons, Jesse H. Hendricks Jr., Evansville, Ind., Robert Darrell Hendricks, Route 1, Dawson Springs, Dudley Ray Hendricks, Breman, Carlos Monroe Hendricks, Emmitt Roger Hendricks, Marvin Wayne Hendricks, and Rev. Ronnie Hendricks, all of Madisonville; she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mellodean Hendricks and Brenda Sue Hendricks; other surviving,two brothers Herschel Croxton, Belton, Ky., and Holbert Croxton, Madisonville; one half brother, Rev. Marvin Campbell, Madisonville; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church with Jimmy Russell officiating, assisted by Rev. Bob Alvey. Burial will be in Muhlenberg County.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Chapel and until 11 a.m. Tuesday at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.
