(The above came from northern Switzerland near the Baden/Wurtemberg Germany boarder line by way of Holland, and England. They parted from Cowes, Isle of Wight, 7 July 1729 on the ship "Allen", James Craigie ship's master. These Schneider's

arrived in Philadelphia and took the oath of allegiance to King George II, King of England, on 15 Sept. 1729. They then made their way to Weber-thal, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania where their friends George, Henry, & Jacob Weber (Swiss Mennonites) had settled some time earlier. (These Weber's later changed their name to Weaver))

Christian Schneider obtained 138 acres on the north & south of Conestoga Creek, adjoining the land of George Weber (this land was later conveyed to him by deed by Thomas & Richard Penn. Christian erected a cabin on the south bank of Conestoga Creek at a spring (land owned by John Trego in 1903, in East EArl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.) Christian lived here tile his death in 1793. (Death records of Christian and Susanna are in the Zeltenreich Church Records.) The descendants of Christian are buried in New Holland & Zeltenreich Reformed Church cemeteries.
John Michael, son of Christian, received a deed from the Executive Council of Pa. for 100 acres, adjoining his father's on the west, dated 4 April 1785. John Michael also purchased 44 acres and 146 perches from Peter & Barbara Worst which laid immediately north of his 100 acre tract. The original land purchased by Christian in 1733 passed out of the family in 1881 when Isaac Schneider, son of Christian Jr. died.
John Michael and his brother Christian Jr. erected a barn on the land originally held by their father in 1781. In 1903 this barn was still standing on the land then owned by Elais Martin.
Jacob & Mathais patented 250 acres of land northeast of Weber-thal, Center Reformed & Lutheran Church (now St. John's) is in Weber-thal.
Jacob also purchased land form William Morris.
Many of the descendants of Jacob Schneider are buried at Center Reformed Church (St John's), they were all followers of Zwingli and in this country united themselves with the Reformed Church.

There is currently a break in these records until the early 1800's.

It appears the John Schneider listed in Lancaster Co., Pa. in the 1820 census, migrated to Ohio in 1828 or 1829. At this time the spelling was written as 'Snider'. The Pennsylvania Military Records listed John Schneider as serving in the Revolutionary War and being shot in the head. The researcher, Howard Snider, believes this same John Schneider who was wounded was the grandfather of John Schneider/Snider who moved from Lancaster Co., Rapho Twp., Manheim (Mannheim), Pa. to Ohio. No documents have been found to prove this at this time. Questions remain ... was this John Schneider the son of Christian or Jacob ???

The old John Snider farm and home is located southeast of Morges, Ohio, about ½ mile east of Morges. There were about 260 acres and some of the old buildings were known to be standing. Carroll Co. records at Carrollton, Ohio show George, James & Jacob Snider conveyed property to John Finefrock by quick claim deed (Lucetta's husband). The description of the John Snider farm was SE ¼ and E ½ and SW ¼ of Sect 11, Twp 16, Range 7 in Carroll Co., Ohio.
