Mrs.. Mary Shoffner Wells, 92, formerly of Bellemont-Alamance Rd., Burlington died Monday, November 22, 2004 at 7:45 AM at Twin Lakes Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance County she was wife of the late Duncan Dixon Wells and daughter of the late Robert Sanders Shoffner and Joy Agnes Coble Shoffner. She was a retired bookkeeper for coble Farm Equipment. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, member of the Women's Circle and delivered Meals on Wheels. Surviving are sisters; Mrs.. Ruth S. McPherson, of Burlington; Mrs.. Edna S. Shoe, of Asheboro, and Mrs.. Carrie S. Thomas, of Burlington; several neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Robert L. Shoffner. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 24 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. S. Perry, Rev. Robert H. Shoffner and Rev. Larry W. McEntire officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening.
