Will Transcript
- Will Book 1, page 61
- In the name of God amen, I Mary Dixon of the county of Halifax and Parish of Antrim being indisposed in body but of sound and perfect memory (thanks be to God for the same) do make constitute and ordain this and no others to be my last will and Testatment in manner and form following viz:
- Item I give and bequeath unto my sister, Anna Dixon three head of sheep to her and her heirs forever.
- Item I give and bequeath unto my son Alexander Douglass and my brother William Douglass ten head of cattle and all my Pewter to be equally divided between them to be given to them and ...their heirs, etc.
- Item I given and bequeath also to my son Alexander Dougalss and my brother, William Douglass eight bl[a]nkets to be equally divided between them.
- Item I give and bequeath to my son Alexander Dougalss one feather bed and bolster with the rug belonging to these Me? also one black mare to be given to him and his heirs etc. Item I give and bequeath unto my said son Alexander Dougalss all the rest?.....remainder of my estate both real and personal and herein before bequeathed to be given to him and his heirs etc forever.
- Item and lastly I constitute and apoint my son Alexander Douglass with my friend James Turner executors of this my last will and Testament and hereby revoking all or ....other will or wills by me heretofore made any .......will and Tesatament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this nineteenth day of February. Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and seventy four.

- At a court held for Halifax County the 17th day of March 1774 This Last will and Testament of Mary Dixon dec'd was presented in court by Alexander Dougalss one of the executors herein named and made oath thereto according to law, and the same being proved by the oaths of two of the witnesses thereto was ordered to be recorded.
