Mary Ellen Cupp

Mary Ellen Cupp was the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Lefter Cupp. She married George Washington Smith July 27, 1854 in Franklin Co., Indiana. Before 1870 they moved to Iroquois Co., Illinois with their family. While there in 1873 Mary Ellen gave birth to a set of quadruplets, all girls, they were actually two sets of identical twins All the girls lived until about their first birthday when two of them died with what is probably whooping cough. The other two lived to be adults.
Mary Ellen and George Washington moved to Reno Co., Kansas in 1885. They had twelve children in all. She was 74 years, 4 months and 4 days at her death.
