A letter to the Commissioner of Pensions states the widow of Isaiah Parsons was Mary Polly Burchfield, daughter of (James) Thomas Burchfield. She was previously married to L. C. Gwin who died in 1844 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.

It also states the 1850 census shows her and Parsons with Gwin children. The letter is dated September 21, 1898 and says that she is living and has not remarried. The next entry is "Mary Parsons, pensioner, died a few days before pension due. May amount be drawn for burial expenses? Her children cared for her and buried her at greater expense than due, but they are poor folks and wish to draw amount due her."

The Jefferson County, Alabama Marriage records show Mary Burchfield, daughter of (James) Thomas Burchfield, married John H. Lockhart on April 3, 1825. Then it shows Littleton C. Gwin married Mary Lockhart on October 14, 1830. Next, Isaiah Parsons married Polly Gwin on June 25, 1846.
