Samuel Holmes m. (1) Dedham 26 Dec 1696 Mary Bullard, b. Dedham, 29 May 1669, d. Dedham 20 Mar 1705, "probably daughter of Benjamin and Martha (Pidge) Bullard. (The Bullard pedigree is so uncertain that it is difficult to place this parentage with accuracy.)"
[Note: it is not clear what is uncertain. The birth date given is recorded to specific parents. The parents that are speculated on moved to Medfield and they had a daughter Mary in 1663 who died in 1666, so the speculation is incorrect. Of course this begs the question: how did this source arrive at this birthdate if it didn't know the parents? The probate files of both Benjamin and Isaac had no will, and their probate only contain only an inventory, so no list of heirs. Assuming the birthdate was acquired through family records, it leads to parents Isaac and Anna.]
