Mariah's father and mother were living in Meigs Co, OH during the 1820 census. Mariah was born in 1821. Her father died in 1821 and sometime after that, the mother and children moved back to Ravenswood, Mason (now Jackson) County, (W)VA. Mariah and her husband, James Blake are found in the 1850 Jackson Co, VA census. Her husband and oldest children are born in PA, the younger children born in VA, probably Mason (now Jackson) Co, (W)VA.

Mariah's Mother and Father were living in Meigs Co, OH, in 1821 and I have assumed that was where she was born. Sometime after her father died in Nov of 1821, her mother took the children and all moved back to her Mothers home area in Jackson County, VA. Hardesty's History says Mariah was 'a Virginian by birth'. She was certainly raised in the Ravenwood area (W)VA, but it is questionable if she was born there. Ah, the 1850 census below says she was born in Ohio.
