Legitimate daughter of Frederic RENTROP & Marie Margueritte LICAIRE, born on 8 Jul 1817, at 4 o'clock in the morning. Sponsors: Ursin FELTEMAN & Marie Marguerite CUPELLE. Signed by P.[ere] Joseph Biggechi [?], Cure. The next entry on the church record is the baptism of Henriette Calamerite NEIJT [KNIGHT], daughter of Henry & Marie Magdalaine LICAIRE, who had been born in 1815 in the parish of St. Mary, Akattapas [sic]. [Was this a cousin?]

District Court, Parish of St. Mary, LA, Clerk's office gives notice dated 10 Feb 1853 [in both English and French] that Terselle RENTROPE, widow of Zephirin THERRIOT, has filed a petition praying she be appointed administratrix of his estate, to be granted in 10 days unless any many show cause why it should not be granted.

!MARRIAGE: After husband Zephirin THERIOT died on 3 Jan 1853, she remarried by Jul 1855 [when she was 38 years old] to Adrien COMEAU [COMO], and lost the wardship (she had been named "natural tutrix") of her three minor children. She had to go to court to resume that status. Austin reached his majority in 1856. (See succession record of Zephirin THERIOT, #798 St. Mary Parish courthouse.) [She was 11 years older than her new husband; she was 37, he 26.]

CENSUS: 1860, where is she? where is Adrien COMEAU, her 2nd husband? There is a Margaret COMEAUX, female age 39, cannot read or write, listed last in household of Persilla FARMER, with some JEMISSON children, in Baton Rouge, note says "Idiot."

!CHRISTENING: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Patterson, St. Mary, LA; 1874; baptismal record No. 6; Clarphey Alfred BERTHRAND, born 11 Feb 1874 of Telephore & Celest BOURG. Godfather was Alfred BOURG, godmother Marguerite RENTROP [could this be she?]

DEATH: Reported in the Planters' Banner on 8 Jan 1880, p. 2, col. 2 (at LSU, microfilm roll 734, reel 5). [This may be some other succession, with her name mentioned?]

    Fourth Ward, line 37, Household #10/Family #10: Adrien COMAU, white male age 40, a carpenter born in LA, male citizen who can read and write, listed with Terzeil, age 50 [sic, really should be 52 as of June 1], white female born in LA, "Keeping house." She cannot read or write. In same household are three black males: William BORRE, age 12, a "Domestic Servant;" Harry WILLIAMS, age 60, a "Gardener;" and Joseph VALSIN, age 60, "White washing." None of them can read or write, but the last two are "male citizens over 21."

    [The preceding household included (her daughter) Margaret and husband Henry TOPHAM and four children, living with head of family #1, George I. DAVIS, a blacksmith and his family. Family #5 on same page is headed by Tersille's widowed sister-in-law Mrs. A. L. RENTROPE, and four children.]
